I’m not particularly good at home DIY, but I enjoy it, and with a couple of exceptions, I’ll give most stuff a go! The results aren’t always great, but at least I can say “I did that!” with pride! 🙂
“Practice your DIY skills on your friend’s house, then you’re ready for yours!”
I wouldn’t wish this on my friends! – though of course I would help them if they asked for it (what sort of friend would I be otherwise?) But I’ve come to realise I’m probably practising on my own house so I’ll be ready to help my daughters with their houses when they move out and get their own, just the same way as my Dad helped (and taught) me!

Important note: I’m talking about Dad’s DIY because I’m a Dad! My wife does just as much DIY around the house as I do (better, in fact!) and we both encourage our daughters to grab the toolbox and fix things too!
Better to show not tell! Error code 18 showed up on our washing machine. I couldn’t see or feel anything wrong and after too much fruitless time I called in my wife for help. I should have done it earlier; within 15 minutes she’d taken off bits I didn’t even know were there, fished out some lacey crap from the pump, and got it working! 🙂
This section is mostly photographic, and shows some of the things I’ve done. They’re here not because I think I’m good, but to show what I’m willing to put my hands to! (Though in my defence, at the time of writing / taking the photos, these projects are still holding up!)
