I landed on Earth half a century ago and have been unable to escape the planet ever since without my wife’s permission or my imagination.

Arriving as a wet, screaming bundle of joy in 1970’s London, I morphed into human adulthood as an ocean scientist, spending much of my existence in the Netherlands – a country nearly as famous as Atlantis for lying largely below sea level.

The ocean holds many puzzles under its surface, and there’s an abundance of exciting research taking place in all kinds of fields and specialities. A perfect playground for my curious nature!

Personal

I live in the Netherlands with my wife and two daughters. In my free time I enjoy walks in nature with my family and exploring the depths of space with my telescope.

Science fiction fascinates me because it explores the “What if?” question, but I also enjoy reading humour. My family conspires to keep me busy; if there’s any time left, I write (as Paul Wandason) on my time travel in fiction blog, and short stories. One of them, A Slice of Earth, won a reader-voted competition! Millie is more ocean-based – a short story about a mermaid who’s environmentally threatened. I’m preparing my other stories for an e-book – so stand by!
